Yo Baby Yogurt

Ok, so I was reading on my friend Brad's blog and it got me thinking. He had listed the top foods you should probably eat that are organic.
Well I must say that a lot of the things on the list, we do try to eat organic. It's hard because your average grocery store like Albertson's doesn't carry everything. Oh they try, they attempt to give you at least one option, but it doesn't always happen, specifically in the fresh veggie department (though they have a pretty good variety in the fruit).
So as most of you know my daughter REFUSES to drink milk. I already knew that we would only give her organic milk, but when she refused to no matter what type of trickster moves I made, I decided she would just need to eat yogurt every morning to give her that dairy.
So that's when I found Stoneyfield Farms organic yogurt called Yo Baby. Lyric LOVES that stuff. So to border on the shameless *yet unpaid* advertising, I must just tell you that you need to get this stuff for your kiddo.
If you go to their website, www.yobaby.com you can even find coupons. They aren't super cheap (but what organic food is).
Actually to bring that out of the parenthesis, seriously. I think America would be happy to eat more organically if it was just a little more affordable! I literally pay twice the price for bananas and apples than I would if I would just get the regular.
Anyways, I just thought I would share my favorite organic find. You can get it at most stores. I haven't looked anywhere else, but definitely found it at Albertstons and Walmart. They come in great flavors and Lyric loves them!
Ok, I'm going to stop the free advertising now.

Yes, Stoneyfield Farms is YUMMY! The only down side is all the sugar. We've been making our own yogurt and it's really good and easy. I make plain and then I can use it instead of sour cream, or I can slice up some fruit and drizzle a little honey or pure maple syrup, but actually I'm getting used to the flavor of plain. It really is one of the best foods to eat. We always make sure and eat it when we're taking antibiotics to prevent yeast infections-the antibiotics kill not only the bad bacteria, but also the good so the yogurt helps populate your gut with the good bacteria. You can also make yogurt cheese, which tastes like cream cheese but with MUCH less fat! Anyway, if you're interested in making your own, here's a link with some good info. I hope you don't think I'm a hippie! :)

ahhh, yes. the woes of buying, and affording, organic. it has been the story of my food purchasing life for seven years now. and in that seven years i have learned a trick or two, and one being you don't need to buy organic milk. the thing you don't want in your milk is rbst, and there is a website out there of all the dairy farms by state who don't treat the cows with it so you can check and see (btw, starbucks still uses rbst treated milk!). luckily, oregon's milk farms are as close to organic as organic gets. we buy umpqua, which i know they sell at whole foods in dallas but for twice the price of what i pay here. also, i've found buying organic plain or vanilla yogart in the bigger sizes is just as cheap as buying regular yogart so we do that too. it's not my fav taste but conrad doesn't seem to mind. man, you know i've been wanting to start a website that journals my attempt at being green, because i swear, daily i encounter obstacles and triumphs in it.
hhmmmm....is this free advertising for my future company?!?! :D
